VN Teamwork

● Alief Health Fair: Alief Super Neighborhood hosted a wonderful Health Fair at the Alief Middle School last Saturday, August 5, 2006. There were approximately 2200 attendees who benefited from the over 100 registered providers, and VN TeamWork was honored to be one of them. With 12 volunteers; we served 115 attendees at our booth for Glucose, Cholesterol, and Blood Pressure testing.

● Blood Drive: In collaboration with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, since 1999.

● Computer Training: Hosting training classes - MS Basic Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Power Point, Basic Internet & E-mail, Web Design, CorelDRAW and PhotoShop, since 1996.

● Eye Glasses: Sponsored by AAA for Seniors in Harris County.

● ESL Training: Providing English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for non-English speaking Vietnamese.

● Health Screenings: Including Blood Pressure Testing, Glucose, Cholesterol, and Osteoporosis Screenings, and Immunizations in collaboration with private Doctors, the Harris County Hospital District, Vietnamese American Pharmacy Students Society (VAPSS), University of Houston, College of Pharmacy and College of Optometry, since 1997, and supported, in part by the Harris County Area Agency on Aging (HCAAA), since 2004.

● Law Seminar: Hosting law seminars in collaboration with the Asian American Legal Center (AALC) and the Asian American Bar Association (AABA) to assist with legalization and naturalization law, family law, living wills, real estate law, since 1996.

● Prostate Screening: In collaboration with MD Anderson Cancer Center for Men 40-70, since 2005.

● Senior Pageant 2005: Sponsored by City of Houston

● Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA): Collaborating with the IRS to host the training for over 150 volunteers in order to assist over 1,500 low-income families, elderly, physically-challenged, and non-English speaking taxpayers in filing their federal income tax returns, since 1996.

● Voter Education and Registration: Organizing Candidates� Forum, posting bilingual billboards, assisting voters to practice on the eSlate voting machine, and encouraging the community to register and vote, since 1996. In 2004, the VN TeamWork Center was selected by Harris County Clerk's Office to be 1 of 32 Early Voting Polling Places.
